Emma Jane Sibbitt, 86, of Greencastle, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

Jane was born in Lizton on Jan. 25, 1936, the daughter of Marvin and Nellie (Deering) Jones.

Jane was a graduate of Fillmore High School. She was also a member of Fillmore United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her devoted husband and best friend of 66 years, William (Bill) Sibbitt; two children, Cindy (Ed) Tomko and Larry (Kathy) Sibbitt; son-in-law Rick Devylder; five siblings, Rosemary Woods, Debbie (Pete) Alamo, Sharon Hoese, Cathy (Terry) Clodfelter and Eddie Jones; brother-in-law Danny Arnold; sister-in-law Sharon Jones; her beloved grandchildren, Ben (Laura) Tomko, Jesse (Rachel) Tomko, Josh (Summer) DeVylder, Jessica (Mike) Walters, Shannon (Colby) Ensor and Katelyn (Nate) Kelly; and 14 great-grandchildren, Rell, Ophelia, Lennon, Beau, Jameson, Maverick, Greer, Cooper, Kaiden, Deacon, Aubrey, Bransyn, Gunnar and Creed. She was better known as “Gram” and they were her pride and joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Brenda DeVylder; a granddaughter, Danielle Tomko; a brother, Bill Jones; and a sister, Betty Arnold.

Jane was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She loved to read, bake, cook and travel. She always encouraged her family, never forgot a birthday and loved hearing about their activities, whether it be in the classroom or on the field. She was their biggest cheerleader. She was an avid race fan and loved spending time with her family.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Service will take place at 1 p.m. with burial following at Fillmore Cemetery.
