August First Friday celebrates summer
Kids may be about to return to school, but by most measures summer is still going strong.
First National Bank, the primary sponsor for the August First Friday event in downtown Greencastle, will celebrate the season with giveaways of sunglasses and beach balls during the event from 6-11 p.m. this Friday, Aug. 5.
As usual, the Main Street Greencastle event will take place on and around the Putnam County Courthouse square featuring music, food and vendors.
Music will begin at 6 p.m. with an acoustic set from Tony Hopkins on the north side of Franklin Street.
Beginning at roughly 7:30 p.m., three bands will take the stage at separate locations. The Joe Buckley Band will play the South Indiana Street stage, while Big Daddy Caddy will play the north courthouse stage.
Finally, for the first time in 2022, there will be a third act playing on Vine Street at the Franklin Street intersection with Hans Prosser taking the stage.
Additionally, there will be 10-plus craft vendors, three food trucks and multiple retail vendors in addition to the normal downtown shops and restaurants.
