Thursday, August 4, 2022

CLOVERDALE — The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus will stop in Cloverdale on Monday, Aug. 15, with two 90-minute shows slated for 5 and 7:30 p.m.

The event is being sponsored by the Cloverdale Lions Club and will be held at the lot next to Taylor’s Hometown Hardware at 3 N. Pickens Dr.

Set up as an authentic one-ring big top circus, Culpepper & Merriweather has been featured on the A&E special “Under the Big Top,” Nick News’ “On the Road with Circus Kids” and most recently the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority special “Big Top Town.”

The circus’ 2022 lineup features big cats presented by Trey Key, aerialists Simone and Kelly, 10th-generation bareback horse riders, the Perez Daredevil Duo on the tight rope and wheel of destiny, clown Leo Acton and Brandon Ayala on the rola bola.

The tent raising is set for 9:30 a.m., and the community is invited to tour the grounds, learn about life on the road and get a behind-the-scenes look at the show. The midway will open at 4 p.m. with pony rides, a moon bounce, a giant slide, face painting and a concession stand.

Advance tickets for adults and children (ages 2-12) or seniors (aged 65-plus) are $12 and $7, respectively, and are available at Taylor’s Hometown Hardware, Cloverdale Building Supplies, New Moon Divination, Cloverdale’s First National Bank branches, Marcy’s Jewelry & Repair and RTM Unique Country Gifts. A percentage of advance tickets will go back to the Lions Club.

Prices at the box office are $15 for adults and $8 for children and seniors. Tickets go on sale beginning one hour before each of the shows.
