New Clinton Township VFD chief tapped

Monday, August 8, 2022

VAN BIBBER LAKE – With its viability uncertain after its former head resigned and operations were shut down, a new chief for the Clinton Township Volunteer Fire Department has been found.

The department posted a message through its Facebook page Saturday evening that the new head will be Tony Camp.

Camp currently serves on the Bainbridge Volunteer Fire Department and is its treasurer.

Camp’s taking over comes after the department’s contract with the Walnut Creek Fire Protection District was voided by leadership on July 12, in which they expressed concern about it being unable to function without a qualified chief. As such, they related that the district would seek a new one to effectively rebuild the department.

Both Bainbridge VFD and Clinton Township VFD have made up the district.

The Facebook post stated that applications for new members of the department are to be taken.

The district is set to hold a public meeting this Friday to officially announce Camp's appointment. It will take place at 7 p.m. at Clinton Township VFD's station near Van Bibber Lake.

A full story will be forthcoming.
