Cathie Malach

Pianist and composer Cathie Malach will be joined by Ben Hogan (mandolin and drums), Eric Edberg (cello), Chris White (vocals), Bryan Langdoc (guitar and bass), Steve Snyder (keyboards) and Steve Michael (guitar) for this week’s Greencastle Summer Music Festival concert at Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church.

The 7:30 p.m. concert will offer a “potpourri” of tones, from introspective and meditative to joyful and celebratory, through a combination of original music and cover tunes of old favorites.

There is no admission charge, as the festival’s concerts are made possible by donations at the programs, contributions from a growing family of individual donors, an endowment through the Putnam County Community Foundation, a grant from the Putnam County Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Inn at DePauw.

Malach has performed in concert venues, clubs, recording studios and workshop settings, thriving in diverse musical genres from new age to rock to folk. She composed, arranged and recorded albums with poet and lyricist Kim Rosen as well as scores for short film. She has also collaborated with other artists, including Peter Kater, Paul McCandless, Larry Thompson, Amy Fradon, Leslie Ritter and David Darling.

The festival concludes next Wednesday, Aug. 17 with a performance by the Tad Robinson Band.
