Brazil Concert Band to play more favorites Sunday

BRAZIL — The Brazil Concert Band will present Classics of the BCB, Take Two, directed by Matthew Huber, Sunday, Aug. 14 at 8 p.m. in Forest Park, rain or shine.

This week’s free performance will again feature band favorites through the decades.

From the pen of John Philip Sousa will come “The Pathfinder of Panama,” which recognized the newly completed Panama Canal, and “Jack Tar March” for the Navy in World War I.

Fans of Percy Grainger will enjoy “A Percy Grainger Suite” arranged by Frank Erickson.

From Disney’s popular 1989 release “The Little Mermaid” will also come the theme song “Under the Sea” by Alan Menken and arranged by Jerry Nowak.

An audience favorite, “Selections from ‘The Phantom of the Opera,’” with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, will showcase “Think of Me,” “Angel of Music,” “The Phantom of the Opera,” “All I Ask of You,” “The Point of No Return” and “The Music of the Night” arranged by Warren Barker.

The band will also play “Trombone Blues” by Fred Jewell, “Old New York Medley” arranged by Paul Yoder, “When the Buccaneers Left Old Dixie’s Land,” by Stephen Kent Goodman, “The Impossible Dream,” by Mitch Leigh and arranged by Frank Erickson and “Olympia Hippodrome March” by Russell Alexander.
