Deloris ‘Jean’ Foxx

Deloris “Jean” Foxx, 86, of Greencastle, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022.

Born Dec. 6, 1935, in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Dee and Minnie L. (Blankenbeckler) Scaggs and was a graduate of Greencastle High School in the class of 1954.

Jean served as the assistant director of Putnam County Superior Court from 1990 to 1998. She had previously served as Putnam County deputy treasurer from 1971 to 1988.

She attended Big Walnut Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of the Euchre Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Russell A. Foxx; a daughter, Deborah Skene; brothers Burse, Glen, Arlie, Junior and Donald Scaggs; and sisters Anna Stringer, Mollie Robinson and Freda Foxx.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jean is survived by her sons, Gregory (Becky) Foxx and Patrick (Pam) Foxx; daughters Sandra (Michael) Rissler and Cynthia Kittle; a sister, Muriel Detro; 10 grandchildren, Josh Faith, Chad Foxx, Sarah Kushman, Kristen Rissler, Ashley Lynn, Matthew Kittle, Brandon Foxx, Kelsey Rissler, Joshua Foxx and Amanda Johnson; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Aug. 23 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
