Kenneth J Gibson Sr. was born on May 17, 1944 in Kingston, Tenn., to Hobert and Hazel Virginia (Dickenson) Gibson and passed away on Aug. 8, 2022 in Fillmore.

He was an outstanding man of the community. He was well respected by anyone who knew him.

Kenneth married the love of his life, Barbara Ann (Spear) on Aug. 31, 1963 in Hendricks County. He never lived in a house that he did not build for his wife and children. He always put his family first: His life was about everything he could possibly accomplish for his kids and grandkids.

Kenneth was a man of many talents. He worked for Schwerman’s Trucking and was an owner operator with his own trucking company until he started Stilesville Concrete. He worked for Daum Trucking Inc., where he retired from and started Quarry Lake Campground.

He is survived by his siblings, Helen Sutherlin of Crawfordsville and Howard (Marilyn) Gibson Sr. of Kansas; children Tammy Lynn Gibson of Fillmore, Kenneth “Joey” Gibson Jr. of Fillmore and Jennifer JoAnn Gibson (Lance Trout) of Fillmore; grandchildren Jordan Clements, Brianna McKinney, Jessika Gibson, Haley McKinney, Austin Tyler Gibson; great-grandchildren Aliyah Jane Clements, Calvin Tyler Gibson, Aurora Joann Clements, Aubree Clements and August Sanders; several nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend Red Hayden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara Gibson on Sept. 18, 2008 and siblings Hobart Hines Gibson, Dennis (Denny) A. Gibson, Lilian Wheeler and Linda Lou Gibson.

We were all very blessed to have such a strong, intelligent and loving man in our lives. We cherished every moment with him. He knows how much he is loved and missed. He is in a better place and at peace now.
