Evelyn F. Hanneman

Evelyn F. Hanneman, 89, of Greencastle, passed away on Monday, Sept. 19, 2022.

Born Dec. 12, 1932, in Washington Township of Putnam County, she was the daughter of Fred and Jewell (Kersey) Pelfrey.

She attended Clinton Center and Bainbridge high schools, graduating in 1950. She married Robert Hanneman in 1956.

Evelyn worked at GTE for 30-and-a-half years, retiring in April 1982. She later worked at DePauw University for 16 years, retiring from the operator/dispatcher position in July 1998.

She is survived by her brother, Doyle (wife Karen) Pelfrey of Greencastle and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband in 1998; parents; sister Christine Cofer; brothers Floyd Pelfrey and Norman Pelfrey; and twin infant brothers.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 23 at the Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery. Interment will follow.

Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
