Upcoming exercise programs slated for Robe-Ann Park

Greg Ruark, director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Greencastle, has announced the addition of two adult outdoor exercise and wellness classes to the Robe-Ann Park Fall 2022 Program Schedule, beginning Monday, Oct. 3.

When exercising outdoors, participants benefit from breathing fresh air while enjoying the calming, nurturing and beautiful environment that Robe-Ann Park provides. Simultaneously improving one’s overall fitness, vitality and feelings of well-being.

Classes that will be offered are Stretch & Tone and Forest Air Bathing.

-- Stretch & Tone - Monday and Wednesday, beginning Oct. 3.

-- Forest Air Bathing -Tuesday and Thursday, beginning Oct. 4.

Location -shelter No. 5 (near the tennis courts) at Robe-Ann Park. Time: 10 -11 a.m.

Stretch & Tone is a low-impact, basic exercise class for overall body conditioning and strengthening the body’s core. The concept of Forest Air Bathing originated in Japan in the 1980s. The practice has been scientifically proven to be an effective tool for alleviating stress and improving mental outlook. Slow, mindful walking and sitting outdoors helps participants feel more balanced and in harmony with life.

Adults of all levels and abilities are invited to participate. Classes will take place rain or shine, with outdoor shelter provided. Wear light-weight shoes and clothing for outdoor exercise. Bring water, yoga mat or towel for exercising and sitting.
