The Putnam County Mural Project block party set for 6 p.m. Friday will be a celebration of the local arts scene beyond the five new murals here in Putnam County.

Local band War Radio will also be providing music for the event, set to take place on South Indiana Street as well adjacent to the new murals at the Putnam County Convention and Visitors Bureau (12 W. Washington St.) and Banner Graphic building (100 N. Jackson St.) in Greencastle.

The event will also include a ribbon cutting to celebrate the five new murals across the county, a bounce house, arts activities for kids, food, drink and more.

Besides the two murals in downtown Greencastle, there are additional murals at the former Tom’s Cookies building in Fillmore, Off the Rails event center in Roachdale and at the Roachdale Community Park.

The Roachdale Murals will also be celebrated during the annual Roachdale Rib and Blues Festival, which takes place on Railroad Street beginning at noon on Saturday, with Jennie DeVoe headlining.
