St. Paul’s annual Oktoberfest set this Saturday

Monday, September 26, 2022

St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Greencastle will host its eighth annual Oktoberfest event this Saturday, Oct. 1.

Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, the event will unfold from 3-10 p.m. at 202 E. Washington St. with a variety food and activities.

The idea behind the annual event has been to bring the community and the parish together for a day of fun and fundraising.

“Oktoberfest is a great festival for our parish, it serves as a homecoming for our parish, it also brings the community together. All are welcome at Oktoberfest,” spokesman Matt Welker said.

Outdoor activities are planned in the church parking lot. The event features games of chance, raffle drawings, children’s activities, food, beer (both craft and domestic) and wine.

Children’s activities -- including a bounce house obstacle course, face painting and games -- are scheduled from 3-8 p.m.

Food will include ribey steak sandwiches, brats, hamburger and porkburgers with all of the meat from Myers’ Market.

Items like homemade desserts and baked goods along with homemade pretzels will also be available.

The beer garden will feature an Oktoberfest and IPA on draft with domestic beers available in aluminum bottle.

Besides bingo, the church will also host a number wheel, pull tabs and a poker booth.

Raffle drawing prizes will include cash, Indianapolis Colts and Indiana University basketball tickets, as well as French Lick resort getaway packages, passes for golf, restaurant gift cards and more. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5, the same pricing in advance or at Oktoberfest.

For the first year, discounted food, drink and game tickets are available if purchased prior to the event at St. Paul’s Church office Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Discounted price is $25 in tickets for $20. Tickets can be purchased at the event for the regular price.
