Norvin L. Gottula II

Norvin L. (Norv) Gottula II, 73, of Cloverdale,passed away on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022, in Louisville, Ky.

He was born on Aug. 19, 1949 in Louisville, Ky., to Norvin and Luanna Gottula.

On Jan. 22, 1977 he married Brenda Clark Gottula, who preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughter. Heather Gottula; his brother, Mark Gottula (April); sister Lana Gottula Proffitt, and many nieces and nephews that loved and admired him, including his companion, Mellissa Hill.

Norv has had a lifelong involvement of agriculture starting with working on a local truck farm at a young age, graduating from Western Kentucky University with an agriculture degree in 1971.

In 1980 he moved to Cloverdale to run and eventually own the Cloverdale Agri-Center. This business became his passion as he enjoyed his business opportunities every day. He supported many FFA and 4-H clubs throughout the area, enjoying working with the youth groups, several that eventually became employees. His employees were his family and continued through his life to support him.

In Cloverdale, Norv and Brenda found a community that they enjoyed being a part of and raised their daughter. He was an active member of the Lions Club and enjoyed supporting different community efforts.

Norv’s interests and joy was anything associated with Kentucky, including horse racing, University of Kentucky athletics, anything water and bourbon.

In his spare time in recent years he enjoyed escaping on the Ohio River with all of his friends at Bull Creek Key with frequent visits to Louisville to see old and new sites. A favorite travel destination was Phoenix, Ariz., to spend time with his daughter and Zonie, Heather’s dog.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 at the funeral home.
