Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21 Joseph S. Zdrojewski, 28, Greencastle, was westbound on U.S. 40 in a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado.

Zdrojewski told Deputy Kyle Lee he encountered a motorcycle that was disabled on the shoulder, which caused him to attempt to change to the left lane to allow room for passing. However, in doing so, he encountered a second motorcycle, a 2003 Indian Chief driven by Jeffrey D. Archer, 60, Greencastle, who was turning around to help the first motorcyclist.

Zdrojewski said he attempted to go into the median to avoid Archer, the front fender of the motorcycle hit his truck and Archer was thrown from it.

Archer was transported from the scene for treatment of his injuries.

The motorcycle was towed. Lee estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.
