UPDATE: Motorist dead in rollover incident Thursday
A Greencastle woman is dead following a rollover incident that occurred west of the city Thursday evening.
First responders were dispatched at about 5:50 p.m. for a motor vehicle crash on County Road 125 South (West Walnut Street) near the turnoff for County Road 200 West. The driver, Debbie Hurley, 52, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Hurley was traveling westbound when her vehicle, an Infiniti QX56, left the roadway for an unknown reason.
A report on the incident or a determination of what led up to it was not available as of presstime Monday.
The vehicle rolled approximately 100 yards before coming to rest upside down. Hurley incurred blunt-force head trauma as such.
Along with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police, Putnam County EMS and firefighters from the Greencastle Fire Department and Madison Township Volunteer Fire Department responded. The Putnam County Coroner’s Office came afterward.
Coroner Jon Myers told the Banner Graphic that an autopsy performed Friday at Terre Haute Regional Hospital found no indication that Hurley had a medical emergency. Meanwhile, results from toxicology testing will take eight-to-10 weeks.
The road was closed at 200 West and County Road 300 West as the scene was surveyed and Trimble Towing picked up the vehicle.
