County Jail

Eleven people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 3:21 a.m. Cole M. Williams, 27, Crawfordsville, was lodged at the jail on a warrant.

• At 2:49 a.m. Sara M. Brown, 34, Terre Haute, was taken into custody on a Vigo County warrant.

• At 12:56 a.m. Charles R. Morrison, 60, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

Tuesday

• At 10:50 p.m. Nathan A. Goens, 31, Greencastle, was booked in for battery, domestic battery and strangulation.

•At 6:47 p.m. Darrell R. Steverson, 44, Bloomington, was lodged at the jail on a warrant.

• At 6:33 p.m. Dustin M. Kennedy, 27, Cloverdale, was taken into custody on a warrant.

•At 2:35 p.m. Jacob S. Campbell, 22, Fillmore, was housed at the jail on a warrant.

• At 11:18 a.m. Robert A. Jones, 44, Reelsville, was booked in on a warrant for violation of community corrections.

• At 10:40 a.m. Damon P. Asher, 29, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a warrant.

• At 9:22 a.m. Cory E. Smith, 37, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a warrant.

Monday

• At 7:47 p.m. Hunter D. Burchett, 22, Greencastle, was booked in for driving having never received a license, criminal recklessness, resisting law enforcement and reckless driving.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 6:42 p.m. on Monday, Kaydence R. Baldwin, 18, Cloverdale, was northbound on Meridian Line Road in a 2009 Chevrolet Impala. Matthew J. Williams, 18, Reelsville, was backing out of a driveway in a 1997 Dodge Ram.

Baldwin told Deputy Robert Soilleux that she came upon the pickup truck stopped in the road, and was unable to get stopped, rear-ending the truck.

Williams said he was backing out of his driveway and no traffic was approaching as he backed out. He said he was switching from reverse to drive when he her loud braking noise and was hit by Baldwin’s vehicle. He told the deputy the car was, “going really fast and came out of nowhere.”

Soilleux estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to 10 incidents since Monday morning:

• At 5:10 a.m. on Monday, GFD received a direct call for transmission fluid leakage from a motor vehicle incident at the intersection of Walnut and Jackson streets. Firefighters arrived on scene soon after and cleaned up the fluid. GFD went back into service at 5:26 a.m.

• At 12:27 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to 1711 S. Bloomington St. for an electrical hazard. Firefighters arrived at 12:34 and were advised of smoke inside. An overloaded power strip was found. It was stated that Duke Energy and the landlord would be contacted. GFD went back into service at 12:48 p.m.

• At 9:55 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to Oliver House at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 9:56 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 10:05 p.m.

• At 12:42 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to Lucy Rowland Hall at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:44 and determined the alarm was due to smoking. The property was ventilated and the alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 12:58 a.m.

• At 8:07 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to Greencastle High School for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:13 and were advised that the alarm was already reset. It was determined the alarm was due to dust from construction. GFD went back into service at 8:19 a.m.

• At 3:33 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to Delta Gamma at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:39 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 3:49 p.m.

• At 4:36 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle incident at Tractor Supply Company. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 4:46 and cleaned up debris. GFD went back into service at 4:58 p.m.

• At 7:35 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD reported seeing pyrotechnics being set off in the area of Bowman Park at DePauw. Firefighters went over at 7:54 and advised those setting them off to stop due to fire code violations. GFD went back into service at 8:01 p.m.

• At 6:27 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 55 Woodhaven Dr. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:36 and determined the alarm was due to a dead battery. GFD went back into service at 6:54 a.m.

• At 7:57 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 101 Fairview St. for an unauthorized burn. Firefighters arrived at 8:04 p.m. and found plastic and brush burning in a pit. The homeowner was advised of the city burn ordinance and the fire was extinguished. GFD went back into service at 8:16 p.m.

Additionally, GFD performed five medical assists during this timeframe.
