Shirley A. McCabe-Jones

Shirley A. McCabe-Jones, 85, of Greencastle, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022 surrounded by her family.

Born Sept. 15, 1937 in Greencastle, she was the daughter of Raymond K. and Lucille (Reynolds) Sutherlin.

Shirley had worked as a bookkeeper for various companies until her retirement in 2000. She remained very active with ResCare of Putnam County after her retirement.

She was a member of the Fillmore United Methodist Church; Greencastle Elks Lodge 1077; VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Women of the Moose.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Norman L. Jones and Thomas McCabe; brothers Ronnie, Charles and Morris Sutherlin; sisters Melinda Sutherlin, Judy K. Little and Janine Urton and son-in-law Elijah Lewis.

Shirley is survived by her children, Tonya Lewis, Rodney D. Neese, Kelly G. (Jeannie) Neese and Chadd L. (Tina) Wilson; sister Janice Battin, 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 a.m. until time of service.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Shirley to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
