Robert ‘Bo’ Davis Sr.
Dr. Robert “Bo” Davis Sr., 66, of Greencastle, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022 at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville.
He was born on Nov. 15, 1955 in Durham, N.C., to James P. Davis, Jr. and Patricia Elaine (Rochelle) Davis.
He married Verma Ellen Hamilton on Aug. 25, 1976 in Dillon, S.C. She survives.
Bo graduated from Hillside High School with the class of 1973 and then attended the University of North Carolina where he received his BS and PhD in chemistry. He was a member of the American Chemical Society. He worked as an organic chemist at Riley Industries, now Vertellus in Indianapolis, from 1982 until retiring in 2016.
Bo enjoyed hiking, wood working, playing his harmonica, reading and playing with his grandkids.
He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, son and brother.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Verma Davis; three children, Robert Davis Jr. (Julie), Karen Cornell (Joel) and Evelyn Evans (Derek); six grandchildren: Sadie, William, Hannah, Riddick, Zelda and Essie; mother Elaine Davis; three siblings, James P. “Sandy” Davis III (Sarah), Denise Alesi and Neil Davis (Betsey), and five nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
Funeral service will be at noon Friday, Oct. 14 at Servies & Morgan Funeral Home, 102 E. Washington St., Roachdale, with Pastor David Bower officiating. He will be laid to rest in Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown. Friends are invited for a time of visitation with the family from 10 a.m. until time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
