CLOVERDALE — American Legion Post 281 will host a benefit for local musician Phil Morgan on Friday, Oct. 28.

Morgan was involved in a motorcycle incident on Sept. 17 while on a charity ride, from which he now has some paralysis and a broken fibula. He is currently at a rehab facility in Indianapolis with an uncertain prognosis.

Morgan plays in the band Frequency and was recently inducted into the Wabash Valley Musicians Hall of Fame. He and his wife Kathy also sell It’s A Ruff Life dog treats at local farmers markets. Kathy also serves on several boards in the community.

Raffles will be held for a Henry Golden Boy lever-action rifle ($10 each) and a 65-inch Onn Roku 4K smart TV ($5 each), along with basket drawings for $1 each. Tickets for 50/50 tickets will be $1 each. Tickets can be bought at the Legion.

The raffle drawings will be at 10 p.m. at the benefit. Basket drawings will be at 7:30 p.m. Winners will not have to be present to claim their prizes. Meanwhile, Frequency will play from 8-11 p.m.

Anyone who would like to make a basket donation may drop them off at either the Cloverdale or Greencastle Silver Bell Flowers locations or at the Legion by Friday, Oct. 21.

Those who would like to mail cards to Morgan may make them out to Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana, 4141 Shore Dr., Indianapolis IN 46254.

An account for Morgan has been set up at Teachers Credit Union for those who would like to make a monetary donation. Checks should be payable to Kathy Morgan.

Those with questions may contact Sharon at 765-720-4527 or reach out to the Legion.
