County Jail

Seven people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 3:39 a.m. Cassandra A. Aynes, 27, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for dealing in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, neglect of a dependent, illegal possession of a syringe, maintaining a common nuisance, dealing in marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 3:14 a.m. Brandon S. Buttery, 40, Greencastle, was taken into custody for dealing in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, neglect of a dependent, illegal possession of a syringe, maintaining a common nuisance, dealing in marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 2:10 a.m. Charles D. Ross, 47, Plainfield, was housed at the jail for illegal possession of a syringe and maintaining a common nuisance.

Wednesday

• At 10:56 p.m. Maria D. VonTagen, 46, Bloomfield, was booked in for theft and welfare fraud.

• At 7:19 p.m. Dustin A. Weddle, 39, Poland, was lodged at the jail for failure to appear.

• At 12:56 p.m. Cameron D. King, 28, Greencastle, was taken into custody for fraud on a financial institution and auto theft.

• At 5:31 a.m. Richard A. Romandine, 43, Indianapolis, was booked in for theft, identity deception and welfare fraud.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 5:27 p.m. Wednesday, Christina M. Stark, 35, Greencastle, was arrested by Sgt. Brad Hiatt.

Taken into custody on Depot Street, Stark was arrested on a Putnam County warrant for domestic battery. Stark was lodged at the Putnam County Jail.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated the a pair of recent property-damage crashes.

• At 7:10 a.m. on Monday, Matthew A. Teegarden, 39, Greencastle, was eastbound on State Road 240 in a 2016 Dodge Charger when he hit a deer.

The car was towed. Cpl. Brian Helmer estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 5:20 p.m. on Saturday, Henry Hart, 21, Oak Park, Ill., was stopped southbound on U.S. 231 at the top of Waterworks Hill, waiting to turn left onto County Road 75 North in a 2014 Honda Pilot.

Deputy David Bennett reported that Christopher N. Cornelius, 33, Greencastle, was southbound in a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt when he failed to observe Hart’s SUV and rear-ended the vehicle.

Cornelius’s car had to be towed, while Hart’s SUV was driven from the scene.

Bennett estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to three incidents since Monday afternoon:

• At 3:39 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle incident with minor injuries at the intersection of Franklin Street and College Avenue. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 3:43 and assisted with patient care and cleaned up fluid and debris. GFD went back into service at 4:08 p.m.

• At 3:39 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to a dormitory in Rector Village at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:43 p.m. and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 3:50 p.m.

• At 11:24 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD went out to 821 S. Fillmore Rd. regarding a malfunctioning smoke detector. Firefighters arrived at 11:34 and replaced the detector. GFD went back into service at 11:54 a.m.

Additionally, GFD performed seven medical assists and had one disregard during this timeframe.
