FILLMORE — Fillmore Clerk-Treasurer Bill Miles was recently charged with multiple counts of sexual misconduct with a minor in incidents which occurred locally and out-of-state.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Indiana State Police Det. Ryan Winters, Miles, 72, inappropriately touched and molested a male juvenile victim several times going back to 2021.

In an interview with a medical examiner, the victim stated that the incidents occurred at a vacation resort in Alabama, Miles’ Fillmore residence, a campground and a Greencastle residence. A sibling of the victim attested to witnessing the Alabama incident.

In admitting to the acts as “sex abuse,” Miles stated that he touched the victim’s penis an estimated 20 times while inside the camper he owned. He also stated that he did the same four different times at his residence in 2021.

Miles has been formally charged with five Level 5 felony counts and two Level 4 counts. Level 5 felonies carry a sentencing ranges of one-to-six years, while Level 4 felonies carry a range of two-to-12 years.

Fillmore Town Council President Meredith Trusty told the Banner Graphic that Miles submitted a resignation as clerk-treasurer. He said Clerk Works' Monica Bray, who has been assisting Miles with his duties, will continue to work with the town.
