CLOVERDALE — Following a closure of about six months, motorists can again use the State Road 42 bridge over Mill Creek in eastern Cloverdale Township.

The Indiana Department of Transportation West Central district announced Wednesday afternoon the bridge had reopened to traffic.

The bridge, which is located at a bend in the road about two miles from the Morgan County line, originally closed in May following a crash that damaged it.

At that time, INDOT announced the bridge would be close until necessary repairs were complete. In mid-September, it was announced the closure would last several more weeks, but even then the estimate was late September or early October.

Ultimately, the date turned out to be Nov. 2.

“We appreciate the public’s patience as crews repaired the damage caused by a crash a few months ago,” INDOT West Central said in the post. “We understand the inconvenience of the bridge’s closing, but are excited to announce its safe reopening.”
