Gerald Allen ‘Gary’ Steele

Gerald Allen “Gary” Steele, 72, of Greencastle, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022.

Born April 24, 1950 in Greencastle, he was the son of Edgar N. and Gail (Crodian) Steele and attended Greencastle Schools.

Gary was a client at Putnam County Comprehensive Services and was also employed by DePauw University Food Service Department as a dishwasher. He also enjoyed serving in the nursery at Sherwood Christian Church rocking the babies.

He loved fishing and playing with animals. He also loved wiener roasts with homemade ice cream.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edgar N. Steele Jr.

Gary is survived by his brothers, Michael R. (Rhonda) Steele and Bryan S. (Peggy) Steele; a sister, Donna (Jerry) Williams; sister-in-law Lynne Steele; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Clinton Falls Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6 at the funeral home.
