INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Senate Majority Caucus met Wednesday in Indianapolis to elect its leadership team for the 123rd General Assembly.

Caucus members voted to re-elect District 37 State Sen. Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville) as their choice for Senate President Pro Tempore. In accordance with Senate rules, the Democrat caucus will also weigh in on Bray’s selection during the legislature’s official Organization Day on Nov. 22.

State Sen. Chris Garten (R-Charlestown) will continue to serve in his role as Majority Floor Leader, and State Sen. Travis Holdman (R-Markle) will continue his role as Majority Caucus chairman.

“It is truly an honor and privilege to serve as Pro Tem of this esteemed body,” Bray said. “This job would not be possible without the support of each of our talented senators, and I’m grateful to my fellow caucus members for again putting their trust in me. The 2023 session will have many challenges and opportunities as we look to improve our state for all Hoosiers, and as always, Senate Republicans will be committed to passing a balanced budget that funds our priorities while living within our means.”

Lawmakers will gather at the Statehouse on Nov. 22 for Organization Day, the ceremonial start of the 2023 session. Members of the public can view calendars, proposed legislation, livestreamed meetings and more online at [iga.in.gov]iga.in.gov.

Senate President Pro Tem Bray (R-Martinsville) represents Senate District 37, which includes Morgan County and portions of Putnam, Johnson and Owen counties.

  • Thank God Rodric Bray no longer represents Greencastle. He successfully aborted himself from here in the redistricting, but only partially. He got stuck in the bottom part of Putnam.

  • Rod is a tremendous asset for Putnam County, and we are blessed to have one of our Senators in leadership.

  • It is ok CC. Understand that for some, anything just leaning right of the SLASCLS theologist is evil. Different perspectives are not allowed or tolerated.

  • Yep, he's still kinda hanging out in Putnam County's lower section, representing. That area is so inpregnated with red voters that anyone looking to end his senate career would not be successful.

  • Rodric "I was glad to play a role in making Indiana the very first state in the nation to outlaw abortion after Roe was overturned" Bray

I'm sure he appreciates them using his photo from a decade ago when he wasn't a mid-fifties old man

  • The last picture I saw of Bray in the Indianapolis Star he had gray hair, a wrinkly face, and was wearing readers looking like a grandpa. I think this picture is what they call catfishing. No discrimination, I also call my dad old man.
