Area 30 board approves master contract, staff pay raises

Wednesday, November 9, 2022

Holding a session for less than 10 minutes, Area 30 Career Center’s interlocal board of trustees approved a master contract and pay raises Tuesday.

The contract is an annual one made between the board and the Area 30 Certified Employee Organization. No details about it were referenced during the meeting, other than it was unchanged since a meeting held on Oct. 31.

Meanwhile, the pay raises were for full-time non-certified staff as well as part-time cafeteria employees. Area 30 Executive Director Chad Nunley said they would be equivalent to a five-percent average, in line with what certified staff will get.

In other business:

• The board approved hiring Benjamin Pierce as the assistant for Area 30’s auto collision technology (ACT) program. He will replace Aaron Plessinger, who has been at Area 30 since March 2018. Nunley noted that the change will not affect finances.

“He has just been an excellent program assistant with his 30-plus years of experience that he brought to us, and he will definitely be missed,” Nunley said of Plessinger.

• It was announced that tours at Area 30 for current Putnam County and Eminence sophomores will be held later this month and in December. South Putnam and Cloverdale are slated for Nov. 30, with Greencastle on Dec. 2 and North Putnam and Eminence on Dec. 7.

While Asst. Director Sharon Bone was absent, Nunley was joined by Treasurer Cindy Burnham and the entire board of superintendents Jeff Gibboney, Greg Linton, Corey Smith, Nicole Allee and Wesley Hammond.

The next regular meeting of the Area 30 Board is set for Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 9 a.m. in the Old National Trail boardroom.
