North Putnam School Board approves non-certified employee pay increases

ROACHDALE — After tabling the matter at its regular October meeting, the North Putnam School Board approved pay increases for non-certified employees Monday evening.

Holding a special session that took about 10 minutes, Heather Lawson motioned to set a five-percent increase for non-certified staff and bus drivers, as well as a 10-percent raise for three positions in North Putnam’s central office. The latter handle payroll, purchases and accounts payable.

Lawson also included for aides responsible for regular hygiene practices to receive an additional $1.50 per hour added to their regular rate. This applies to those who are either considered “Qualified” or “Highly Qualified.”

“I would welcome more of an increase, but that would not be financially responsible,” Lawson said in her motion, providing that they would put the corporation off with appropriations in its current budget.

It was emphasized that the increases would be retroactive for all non-certified staff still employed with the school corporation.

As stated during its meeting last month, the increases were tabled due to the board requesting additional information about finances.

Board President Travis Lambermont abstained from the vote because of his wife April being the administrative assistant in the central office.

The entire board joined Supt. Nicole Allee, Director of Operations Terry Tippin, Corporation Treasurer Tanya Pearson, Corporation Attorney Darren Chadd and Lambermont for the meeting.
