County Jail

Several people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 6:05 p.m. Matthew L. Kuchler, 52, Fillmore, was lodged at the jail for residential entry, domestic battery and criminal mischief.

• At 4:43 p.m. Dejana D. Anderson, 24, Indianapolis, was taken into custody for conspiracy to traffic with an inmate and possession of a controlled substance.

• At 9:53 a.m. Desiree D. Bradley, 24, Bloomington, was housed at the jail on a warrant.

Friday

• At 5:40 p.m. Magon J. Tabor, 30, Greencastle, was booked in for possession of methamphetamine and on a warrant for fraud.

• At 2:05 a.m. Norman E. Taylor, 53, Centerpoint, was lodged at the jail on a warrant.

•At 1:43 a.m. Mark A. Lowe, 22, Brazil, was taken into custody on a warrant.

Monday, Nov. 28

• At 11:14 p.m. Dylan A. Deem, 23, Spencer, was housed at the jail on a parole hold.

• At 6:42 p.m. Felicia M. Jeffries, 48, Bainbridge, was booked in for domestic battery, criminal mischief and public intoxication.

City Police

Three recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 7:40 p.m. Saturday, Christopher Hunter, 32, Coatesville, was arrested by Officer Chris Helmer.

Taken into custody at the Arby’s parking lot off Indianapolis Road, Hunter was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He registered .157 percent under blood-alcohol testing and was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

•At 1:46 a.m. Saturday, Levi Purdue, 25, Shelbyville, was arrested by Sgt. Nick Eastham.

Taken into custody at Robe-Ann Park, Purdue faces a charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated-refusal. He was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

• At 8:42 p.m. Friday, Arissa Canter, 19, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Helmer.

Arrested at the Walmart Superstore, Canter was charged with theft and being a minor in consumption of alcohol.

Lodged in the county jail, Canter allegedly took three pairs of underwear, valued at $9.63, by concealing them in her coat.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated the following recent property-damage crashes.

• At 8:50 p.m. on Sunday, Zachary H. Miller, 39, Roachdale, was southbound on Heritage Drive in a 2022 GMC Sierra.

Miller told Deputy Josh Clark a Dodge diesel truck was in his lane, which caused him to go off the road and hit his mirror on a sign and hit a guardrail. He said the Dodge truck did not stop.

Clark estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 7:20 p.m. on Sunday, Laura K. Honey, 43, Greencastle, was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox when she hit a deer.

Deputy Robert Soileux estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 6:08 p.m. on Sunday, Jacob M. Armstrong, 27, Russellville, was westbound on County Road 900 North in a 2016 Ford F-150 when he hit a deer.

Deputy Clark estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 6:05 p.m. Autumn D. Wolf, 26, Fillmore, was eastbound on U.S. 40 in a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox when she hit a deer.

The vehicle was towed. Deputy Soilleux estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

• At 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Blake Fitzgerlad, 28, Greencastle, was northbound on U.S. 231 in a 2017 Hyundai Elantra when he hit a deer.

Deputy Austin Fields, assisted by Deputy Josh Deal, estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

The vehicle was towed.

• At 6:30 a.m. on Friday, Brandon S. Dickerson, 37, Jeffersonville, was eastbound on U.S. 40 in a a 2016 Nissan Versa when he hit a deer.

The vehicle was towed. Deputy Soilleux estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 5:31 a.m. on Friday, Joshua M. Beck, 51, Greencastle, was eastbound on U.S. 40 in a 2013 Ford F-150 when he hit a deer.

The truck was towed as a result. Cpl. Brian Helmer estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 6:38 p.m. William Richardson, 42, Dana, was westbound on State Road 236 in a 2014 Ford F-150 when he hit a deer.

Deputy David Bennett estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to four incidents since Friday evening:

• At 5:59 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to the area of 500 N. U.S. 231 for a tree in the roadway. Firefighters located it at 6:02 p.m. and removed the debris. GFD went back into service at 6:14 p.m.

• At 5:50 a.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to the area of 1796 N. CR 250 West for a tree in the roadway. Firefighters located it at 5:59 and cut it up and removed it. GFD went back into service at 6:20 p.m.

• At 6:36 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to Kappa Kappa Gamma at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:38 and determined the alarm was due to a dirty detector head. The detector head was cleaned and the alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 6:50 p.m.

• At 1:50 a.m. on Sunday, GFD received a direct call for a gas smell at Phi Kappa Psi at DePauw. Firefighters arrived at 1:53 and found that pilot lights were out on the kitchen stove. The gas was secured and it was advised for maintenance to check the stove. GFD went back into service at 2:01 a.m.

Additionally, GFD responded to six medical assists during this timeframe.
