Darrell Edmond Sandusky

Darrell Edmond Sandusky, 93, of Roachdale, passed away on the afternoon of Dec. 19, 2022, at Brooke Knoll Village in Avon.

He was born on March 7, 1929, in Ladoga to the late Fred and Cecil (Servies) Sandusky.

He married Alberta R. Ashley on May 4, 1952, in Indianapolis. She preceded him in death on June 28, 2016.

Darrell worked as a supervisor for Allison Detroit Diesel. Upon retiring, he drove a bus for the Blind School for the North Putnam school corporation.

He was a member of the VFW, Roachdale Optimist Club, Odd Fellows and the Byron Cox Post 72 in Crawfordsville.

Darrell enjoyed fishing; gardening; major league baseball, especially the Braves; spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and coaching summer baseball in Roachdale.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan (David) Trent; grandchildren Ashley (Ervin) Tyler, Tyler Trent (Tara) and Spencer Sandusky (Megan); great-grandchildren Jayda and Kayden Tyler, Hudson and Hayes Trent and Silas Sandusky; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son David Sandusky; three brothers, Jim, Bob and Bill; and three sisters, Mary, Mamie and Kate.

A graveside service will be at Roachdale Cemetery, 4178 E. State Rd. 236, Roachdale, IN 46172, on Dec. 22 at 11 am.

Memorials in Darrell’s memory may be made to the North Putnam athletics department.
