Marvin Douglas, 89, of Greencastle, passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, 20 days after the passing of his beloved wife, Irene.

Marvin was born Nov. 3, 1933 to the late Clemen and Kathleen (Buis) Douglas in Alaska, Ind.

On April 3, 1953, he married Irene Price.

He was a faithful member of the Knightsville Church of Christ.

Marvin worked at IBM for 22 years, retiring in 1988.

Marvin and Irene spent their 69 years together watching St. Louis Cardinal games, hunting for antiques, taking long drives and traveling to Kentucky and Tennessee.

Marvin is survived by his sons, Clay (Linda) Douglas of Palmetto, Fla., Marvin (Norma) Douglas of Lafayette, Rick Douglas of Plainfield and daughter Vicki (Randall) Sanders of Bainbridge; six grandchildren and one step-grandson; eight great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; and his brother, Tom (Jo) Douglas of Bloomington.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene, and daughter-in-law, LuAnne.

In accordance with Marvin’s wishes, there will be no public viewing or visitation. A private graveside burial will occur at Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle with Pastor Rob Dispennett officiating. Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

The family would like to thank all the staff for the wonderful care given to Marvin during his time at Asbury Towers.
