Daniel Russell Holmes

Daniel Russell Holmes, 59, of Greencastle, passed away on Friday, Jan. 6, 2023.

Born April 13, 1963, in Indianapolis, he was the son of William and Mary (Shelley) Holmes.

He was a graduate of Mooresville High School, Vincennes University, and received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University.

Dan worked at Tallgrass Energy as a technician.

He was an avid cyclist and collector of antique bicycles. He enjoyed automotive restoration and collecting vintage cars and equipment. He pursued many hobbies and enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially planting trees, observing wildlife and managing the woodland on his property.

In mid-life, Dan learned to play bass guitar and enjoyed playing music with family and friends. He was always willing to use his mechanical skills and technical knowledge to help others.

Dan is survived by his wife, Kara (Ridens) Holmes; daughter Ashley Adair and husband, Chris; a brother, David Holmes and wife Dena; and a sister, Elizabeth “Libby” Wheeler and husband Sam.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A private celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date. Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
