The Putnam County Community Foundation recently said farewell to our outgoing board members who completed their terms of service with the Community Foundation on Dec. 31. We extend our deepest gratitude to Jeff McCall and Carolyn Mann for their dedicated service to our organization and community.

Carolyn Mann began her service to PCCF in 2014, serving as a member of the board as well as a member of the scholarships and educational attainment committee, the Lilly Scholar selection committee and the grants committee over the course of the last nine years. We are thankful for Carolyn’s insight as a former educator and her commitment to supporting Putnam County’s greatest needs.

Jeff McCall began his service to the board of directors in 2017 when he was appointed by the Greencastle City Council. Jeff has served as a part of the philanthropic development committee, the governance committee and has served as the president of the board of directors in 2021 and 2022. We are incredibly grateful for Jeff’s leadership and guidance as PCCF found its way in a post-COVID economy.

While we will surely miss these two outgoing board members, we are excited to welcome two new members to our board of directors: Dave Murray and Cynthia Mattox.

Dave Murray

Dave Murray is a long-time supporter and volunteer for the Community Foundation, having served as a member of the scholarships and educational attainment committee since 2021. Dave is the retired president of the National Center for College Costs in Greencastle. Before starting the Center in 1999, Dave worked at three universities during his nearly 30 years in college admissions and financial aid, including DePauw University. He was the first president of the Putnam County Development Center and previously has served on the United Way board and on the vestry at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, where he has headed up multiple fundraising campaigns.

Currently, Dave is an at-large member of the Greencastle City Council and on the fundraising committee for the soon-to-be Putnam County YMCA and medical offices. We are excited to welcome Dave to our board of directors as the most recent appointee of the Greencastle City Council.

Cynthia Mattox

Cindy Mattox joins our board of directors after four years of service to our Finance Committee. Cindy has been committed to helping her community with homeownership goals for almost 30 years within the Putnam County market and the state of Indiana. She has been a President’s Club member for the last eight years, earning top ranking with her peers and some of the best in her industry.

In 2020, Cindy was nationally recognized in the Scotsman Guide twice, once for a spot with the nation’s top originators and then again for being a top woman originator. Cindy will bring a unique and important perspective to our board of directors and will continue to provide leadership on the finance committee.

Our board of directors will also see a change in leadership in 2023, with Marianne Savage as the new president. Marianne has served on PCCF’s board of directors since 2020, spending time on the grants committee, the governance committee and serving as the board’s vice president in 2021 and 2022. Marianne is a proud resident of Greencastle, where she spends time giving back to the community at Gobin United Methodist Church as a member of their leadership team. She also serves on the executive team for Transformers, an outreach of Gobin UMC.

Marianne Savage

In her role as board president, Marianne hope to bring a more strategic eye to the Community Foundation’s initiatives by making data-driven decisions that will empower our organization to best support Putnam County.

The Putnam County Community Foundation board comprises 17 members who graciously represent their communities within Putnam County. Board members accept the responsibility to guide the Community Foundation with care and give their time and attention to ensuring that legal, ethical and fiduciary standards are met.

We owe a great debt of gratitude to our board members, both present and past, for their leadership over the past 37 years.
