Lynda Dunbar announces candidacy for city mayor

Lynda Dunbar filed her declaration of candidacy for mayor of Greencastle on Jan. 4. She made her official request to be placed on the primary ballot as a Republican mayoral candidate. The election will be held on Tuesday, May 2.

Dunbar currently serves as the clerk-treasurer for Greencastle. She has been in this role for 11 years. During this time she has balanced budgets with adequate cash reserves, improved customer service and automated her department. She also led an initiative to raise employees’ wages.

If elected, Dunbar will be focused on public safety, infrastructure, quality of life in the Greencastle community and downtown Greencastle.

Her goal is “to challenge the citizens, city employees, public officials, the public school system and local colleges to think outside of the box on how Greencastle can be its best self.”

“City government is successful when it supports a strong community,” Dunbar said.
