Fallen Milwaukee police officer had Putnam ties

MILWAUKEE — A Wisconsin police officer killed in the line of duty last week had ties to Putnam County.

Officer Peter Jerving was killed on Tuesday, Feb. 7 when police say a 19-year-old robbery suspect shot him. Jerving fired back, also killing the man.

The 37-year-old was the son of Patty and Douglas Jerving of Milwaukee.

The former Patty Tellas is a native of Reelsville.

Officer Jerving was laid to rest Monday in Wisconsin.
