Away from City Hall, Huber owns the dance floor
Linda Huber has a very different life outside of being executive assistant to the Greencastle mayor. When Huber is outside the walls of City Hall, one may not recognize her.
When she is not working or with family, she is dancing — and dancing a lot.
In 2022, Huber represented Fred Astaire Dance Studios of Carmel in seven nationally- and world-recognized ballroom dance competitions. These events take place all over the United States.
All the events Huber attended bring an extremely high standard of dance, and the events range from 7,000 to 25,000 entries.
These are amongst the largest in the world.
To top it off, Huber has danced a minimum of 250 entries at some of these events and was still standing at the end with a smile on her face. Maybe her feet hurt, but she doesn’t complain.
Huber has placed in the top three at all of these events. In addition she has brought back the top accolades in solo performance division. This is quite the accomplishment.
Literally she has brought home the gold.
The icing on the cake is, Huber has finished the end of the year being on top of the competition leaderboard for the Fred Astaire Dance Studios Worldwide. With more than 15,000 students competing, this means Huber is in the top 1 percent.
In January, she was notified that she is listed among the top 30 amateurs in Fred Astaire Dance Studios worldwide.
Huber takes pride in all of her teaching team, which consist of Fabi Pellicori, David Elser, Elizabeth Krug and Lindsey Rutherford. Her master coaches are Dan Rutherford and Nicole Carroll.
Needless to say, Huber is quite the accomplished dancer. She loves being around her crazy fun dance family but also enjoys the physical activity that dancing brings. Huber said dancing is physical, spiritual and requires a lot of brain power.
“What is so great about Huber is, her feet may hurt at the end of competition but her wonderful smile never goes away,” coach Dan Rutherford said.
Now Huber is gearing up for Winter Classic, which takes place at the Sheraton-Keystone over the weekend of March 17-19. Friends and well-wishers are invited to come see her dance.
Once again, Huber will be among more than 200 entries at the event and working toward being a top competitor in the World Cup Series in 2023.
Let’s go Linda.
