Cloverdale, North Putnam students succeed at statewide JAG competition

TERRE HAUTE — Students in Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) programs at Cloverdale and North Putnam took top spots recently at JAG’s Regional Career Development Conference.

They went up with more than 200 students to demonstrate skills learned in their respective programs. Their placements in nine different competitions are as follows:

1st Place - Keelie Pierce, Kaydence Sharp, Kiersten Wade - Cloverdale

2nd Place - McGuire Lee, Andrea Nees - Cloverdale

3rd Place - Jaycee Farris, Bryce Johnson - North Putnam

Creative Solutions

2nd Place - Abagayle Welton - Cloverdale

Critical Thinking

1st Place - Dakota Parks - North Putnam

2nd Place - Aubrey Klutey - North Putnam

Financial Literacy

1st Place - Carson Hall - Cloverdale

3rd Place - Drew Nesbitt - North Putnam

Writing Skills

2nd Place - Mackinley Lawson - North Putnam

Along with the programs’ individual wins, Parks and Hall qualified to compete at JAG’s State Career Development Conference this spring in Indianapolis.

In the Wabash Valley, Cloverdale and North Putnam’s JAG programs are included with those at Northview, Riverton Parke, West Vigo, Sullivan, Terre Haute North, Terre Haute South and Parke Heritage.

“We are proud of the JAG programs in our region for developing young leaders and positioning them to compete against some of the best minds in our state,” said Greg Lee, who oversees nine JAG programs in Western Indiana. “The JAG experience not only sets young people up for success after high school, it also teaches valuable personal and career skills they will carry with them throughout their lives.”

JAG is a national workforce readiness initiative for high school students. Programs focus on developing skills with problem solving, leadership, job seeking, team building and academic skills.
