February comes and goes without snow

February 2023 will go down in Indiana weather history.

It marks the sixth time ever and the first time in 49 years that February has come and gone without a single measurable snowfall occurring, the National Weather Service reports.

That has also previously occurred during February 1949, 1935, 1932, 1931 and 1918.

A typical February in central Indiana sees 6.0 inches as part of a meteorological winter total of 25.5 inches for the period November-February. The Putnam County area is currently 11 inches below normal for the period.
