Governor names VanDerMoere new judge in Owen County
SPENCER — A Cloverdale High School graduate and former Putnam County deputy prosecutor has been named a judge in Owen County.
On Wednesday, Gov. Eric Holcomb announced Donald VanDerMoere II as his appointment to the Owen Circuit Court #1. He will succeed Judge Lori Thatcher Quillen, who retired effective Jan. 20 after serving more than 20 years.
VanDerMoore has served as the Owen County prosecutor since 2009. Prior to his current position he was the chief deputy prosecutor in Putnam County, serving under Prosecutor Tim Bookwalter from 2006-09. He is also a 1995 graduate of Cloverdale High School.
A lifelong resident of the area, VanDerMoere serves on the Community Corrections Board and resides in Owen County. He received a bachelor of arts from Indiana University in Bloomington and a law degree from Valparaiso University.
Donald VanDerMoore will be sworn in as the judge of the Owen County Circuit Court #1 on a date to be determined.
