Comprehensive plan draft to be unveiled Monday

Thursday, March 2, 2023

Anyone interested in the long-term vision and land use in Putnam County is invited to a public meeting on Monday, March 6 at Ivy Tech Greencastle, 915 Zinc Mill Rd.

The 5:30 p.m. meeting will feature the public presentation of the 2023 Putnam County comprehensive plan.

Over the last year, HWC Engineering has been working with local officials and public input to shape what the new plan will look like. While its final form is yet to be determined, the draft will give residents an outlook of the plan.

A comprehensive plan covers topics such as economic development, land use, housing, infrastructure, natural resources and quality of place. The plan must contain a statement of objectives on future development, a statement of policy for land use development and a statement of policy for the development of public ways, places, lands, structure and utilities.

A draft of this plan is available on the Putnam County Planning Department’s website at https://co.putnam.in.us/building-and-planning, as well as at its office on the fourth floor of the Putnam County Courthouse (Room 46) during regular business hours.

The plan can also be emailed by request at planning@co.putnam.in.us.
