County Jail

Five people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monday

• At 12:42 a.m. Austin J. Nickol, 35, Brownsburg, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

Friday

• At 8:27 a.m. Leslie E. Anderson, 28, Terre Haute, was taken into custody for a false identity statement and on an out-of-county warrant.

Thursday

• At 10:46 p.m. Kevin P. Chambers, 59, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

• At 8:23 p.m. Erin E. Caine, 39, Greencastle, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 5:45 p.m. Jennelle R. Naanes, 36, Gosport, was lodged at the jail for possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a syringe and possession of paraphernalia.

City Police

Three recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 4 a.m. Sunday, Felix Morales, 50, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Billy DeWitt.

Taken into custody on Bloomington Street at Primrose Lane, Morales was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated-refusal and possession of marijuana.

• At 12:16 a.m. Saturday, Mark Driggs, 54, Chicago, was arrested by Officer Chris Helmer.

Taken into custody on the sidewalk in front of the post office, Driggs was lodged in the jail for public intoxication. His blood-alcohol concentration was reported at .239 percent under portable breathalyzer testing.

• At 6:40 p.m. Friday, Ashlyn Sutton, 18, Greencastle, was arrested for theft at the Walmart SuperCenter by Officer Damon Ludwig.

Sutton, who was lodged in the Putnam County Jail, reportedly loaded a shopping cart with $1,025.25 worth of food and miscellaneous items before pushing it past all points of sale, while reportedly telling a nearby clerk she had a wobbly cart and was going to exchange it.

Five individuals were issued summonses by city officers:

• At 7:53 p.m. Saturday, Patricia Perry, 34, Greencastle, was cited by Officer DeWitt.

Stopped at Super Wash on Indianapolis Road, Perry was given a summons for being an operator never licensed and for failure to transfer registration within 45 days.

• At 4:25 a.m. Saturday, Matthew Buis, 52, Greencastle, was cited by Officer DeWitt.

Stopped at Shadowlawn and Moore Court, Buis was given a summons into court for possession of a controlled substance.

• At 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, Wesley Sturgell, 34, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Helmer.

Stopped on Indianapolis Road, Sturgell was issued a summons for possession of a controlled substance.

• At 9:38 p.m. Feb. 27, Amanda Browder, 34, and Ashley Johnson, 36, both of Indianapolis, were issued summonses for possession of marijuana from Officer Helmer.

Their vehicle was stopped at Zinc Mill Road and Tennessee Street. Johnson was also cited for possession of Schedule IV controlled substance.

One recent citation was issued by city officers:

• At 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Steven Reintjes, 49, Rockville, was cited by Officer Ludwig.

Stopped on Washington Street, Reintjes was ticketed for a having a false or fictitious plate.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated the following recent crashes.

• At 7:28 p.m. Jerry Campbell, 45, Roachdale, was eastbound on State Road 236 in a 2007 Buick Lucerne when he hit a deer.

Deputy Robert Soilleux estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 11:10 a.m. on Friday, Jordan L. Hanger, 16, Monrovia, was turning left from westbound U.S. 36 onto southbound County Road 25 West in a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt.

Deputy Randy Patrick noted that due to rain and a severe crosswind, the vehicle left the roadway and hit an embankment and state highway sign.

The car was towed from the scene. Patrick estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 4:35 a.m. on Friday, Angela D. Wyatt, 46, Reelsville, was eastbound on U.S. 40 in a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse when she hit a deer.

Deputy Josh Clark estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 12:20 a.m. Thursday, Donna L. McCall, 55, Brazil, was westbound on County Road 400 South in a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox when she hit a deer.

Deputy Clark estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to three incidents since Friday afternoon:

• At 12:06 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to Druley House at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:08 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 12:15 p.m.

• At 6:04 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to Oliver House at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:08 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 6:14 p.m.

• At 8:32 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to Pi Beta Phi at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:40 and found that a detector was dirty. The detector was cleaned and the alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 8:43 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded to four medical assists, had two disregards and found no incident on one run during this timeframe.
