Charles ‘Richard’ Smiley

Charles “Richard” Smiley, 79, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023.

He was born in Greencastle, the son of Charles and Iris Geraldine Smiley.

In his younger days he enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, boating, camping and mushroom hunting. He loved old-time country and gospel music. He was a jack of all trades and worked at Great Dane Trailers.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sandra Ward Smiley; sons Mike Smiley (wife Neoma Henry) and Brian Smiley (wife Lauri Smiley); grandchildren Kraig Sanders, Christopher Smiley, Christina Smiley and Amanda Smiley; several great-grandchildren; brother Harold Smiley; sister Brenda Keeney; brother-in-law Lonnie Keeney; and sister-in-law Ilene Smiley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Keith Smiley and Clifford Smiley; and sisters Shirley King and Darlene Bell.

Visitation will be held at Bousley Funeral Home on Thursday, April 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with funeral service at 1 p.m. Pastor Steve Blaydes will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.
