BRAZIL — The Brazil Concert Band will begin its 2023 season of concerts with rehearsals beginning Tuesday, May 23 at 7 p.m. at the Forest Park bandshell, or at the pavilion in case of rain.

The 13 Sunday-evening concerts will be held from June 4 through Aug. 27. The concerts usually start at 8 p.m., however, those of July 2 and Aug. 27 will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Matthew Huber is in his 42nd year as conductor of the band.

Area musicians wanting to join the band must be at least a freshman in high school and own their own band instrument. Those interested may email Huber at mmjjhuber@gmail.com or just come to the first rehearsal.

  • I think it should be noted as well that Mr. Huber was a long time educator at GMS as a history teacher and assistant band director. His children have now carried that passion on as band directors in other communities.
