Greencastle brought its big bats out against Parke Heritage Thursday, recording eight extra-base hits, including four home runs, in an 18-2 rout on the softball diamond.

Emma Hunter was first to strike, notching a solo home run in the bottom of the first over the left field fence for a 1-0 lead.

The Wolves briefly took the lead in the third after a two-run home run by Hayley Holcomb but the response was swift and overwhelming.

Kenzie Epley singled to plate a run, as did Allie Beaman and Emma West, before a Lausee double drove in two to make it 8-2.

Lantzy returned to the plate for a three-run home run before Epley hit a two-run blast to make it 13-2 after three innings.

Brewer singled in a run in the fourth while Hunter and Epley both plated two runs with doubles for the final tallies of the night.

Bryson Worman led the sixth-place Tiger Cubs with a round of 83, followed by Zane Huber on 87, Sam White on 88, Jackson Rodgers on 92 and Dylan Barcus on 99.

“It was difficult fighting the winds, cool temps and slick greens to make a good score on many of the holes,” Greencastle head coach Steve Paquin said. “This is all part of the process of a young and inexperienced team trying to be competitive with the area teams.”

Bryson Worman led the Tiger Cubs with a 42, Dylan Barcus chipped in a 45 while Jackson Rodgers and Zane Huber both shot 46 to help edge out the Mounties by three strokes Wednesday.

Sam White shot 49, Clark Shafer 51 and Cooper Grable 55 on the day.

“The course played extremely difficult with 20-mph winds and small, fast greens that limited scoring opportunities for either team,” Paquin said.
