County Jail

Six people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monday

• At 3:37 a.m. Brent M. Polster, 41, Poland, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 12:53 a.m. Sara J. Sutherlin, 35, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a pair of local warrants for theft.

Sunday

• At 6:15 p.m. Christian M. Bethel, 27, Greencastle, was booked in on an out-of-county warrant.

Saturday

• At 7:03 p.m. Michael L. Folck, 50, Coatesville, was lodged at the jail for criminal confinement, intimidation, domestic battery, domestic battery with moderate bodily injury, pointing a firearm, criminal recklessness with a firearm and interfering with the reporting of a crime.

Thursday

• At 3:53 p.m. Adam M. Vibbart, 23, Spencer, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 1:37 p.m. Hayden M. Davis, 19, Coatesville, was booked in on a local warrant.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 5:04 p.m. Friday, Dipendhai P. Patel, 39, Cloverdale, was arrested by Sgt. Nick Eastham.

Taken into custody at State Road 240 and 10th Street, Patel was lodged in the Putnam County Jail as a lifetime habitual traffic offender.

Three recent summonses were issued by City Police officers:

• At 6:43 p.m. Friday, Jextel Quinois, 26, Greencastle, was given a summons into court by Officer Damon Ludwig.

Stopped along Indianapolis Road, Quinois was issued a summons for possession of marijuana.

Meanwhile, a passenger, Erith Quinones, 20, Greencastle, was also issued a summons for possession of marijuana.

• At 8:20 a.m. Friday, Inocencio Gomez, 66, Poland, was issued a summons by Sgt. Eastham.

Stopped while driving on Bloomington Street, Gomez was given a summons for being an operator never licensed.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent crash.

• At 3:06 p.m. on Wednesday, Jacob M. Lantz, 37, Greencastle, was northbound on County Road in a 2022 Dodge Ram 3500.

Lantz told Deputy Randy Patrick that as he was coming out of a curve, a southbound vehicle was across the center and into his lane. To avoid making contact with the other vehicle, Lantz left the roadway and ultimately ended up in a ditch against a farm fence on the east side of the road.

There was damage to the fence and the passenger side of the truck. Though the vehicle had to be pulled from the ditch, it was operable.

Patrick estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to 13 incidents since Wednesday evening:

• At 6:51 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Lucy Rowland Hall at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:55 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 7:02 p.m.

• At 10:16 a.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to the apartments at 330 Greenwood Ave. for an elevator rescue. Firefighters arrived at 10:21, used a ladder to free those trapped and shut off the power to the elevator. GFD went back into service at 10:59 a.m.

• At 1:51 a.m. Thursday, GFD was dispatched to 453 Ridgeland Rd. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:59 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. GFD went back into service at 2 p.m.

• 9:46 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to the DePauw-owned Seminary Apartments for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 9:50 and determined the alarm was due to marijuana smoke. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 10:06 p.m.

• At 3:51 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to Wilson House at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:54 and determined the alarm was due to marijuana smoke. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 3:59 p.m.

• At 5:41 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle incident with minor injuries at 240 Percy L. Julian Dr. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 5:47 and cleaned up fluids. GFD went back into service at 6:32 p.m.

• At 12:44 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to New Life Baptist Church for a gas leak. Firefighters arrived at 12:47 and were advised by church personnel that they had shut off the gas to a water heater that had been hit. They ventilated the building prior to GFD’s arrival. After securing the property, GFD went back into service at 1:01 p.m.

• At 3:02 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 1752 Indianapolis Rd. on a good intent call. Firefighters arrived at 3:05 and put up a new smoke detector. GFD went back into service at 3:30 p.m.

• At 4:21 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to the Greencastle Elks Lodge for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 4:23 and were advised of issues previously with false alarms. GFD went back into service at 4:29 p.m.

• At 1:31 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle incident without injuries at the intersection of Northwood Boulevard and Franklin Street. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 1:35 and cleaned up debris and fluids. GFD went back into service at 1:44 p.m.

• At 2:29 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to Mansfield House at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 2:32 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 2:44 p.m.

• At 10:29 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to Kappa Alpha Theta at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:34 and determined the alarm was due to hair care product. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 10:39 p.m.

• At 1:12 a.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to Wilson House at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:17 and determined the alarm was due to smoking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 1:21 a.m.

Additionally, GFD responded to 15 medical assists and had four disregards in and around this timeframe.
