BAINBRIDGE – North Putnam dropped six runs on Crawfordsville in the first inning and added eight more in the fourth while Karyssa Miller allowed a solitary hit in the circle, the only blemish on an otherwise exemplary afternoon, as part of a 16-0 win in five innings Friday night.

Scoring began quickly as an error and walk set up Kyndal Brewer to single in a run before Kylie Rust plated two more with a single.

Miller would double to bring home a fourth run before a pair of errors and a Hailee Daigle groundout brought home two more runs to make it 6-0 after an inning of play.

A quiet second inning was followed by a two-run third inning for the hosts as Lexi Daigle and Hailee Daigle drove in a run each to make it 8-0.

North Putnam completed the job in the fourth as Brewer brought in the first run on a sac fly before Emma Williams notched a home run to left field to make it 10-0.

An error and groundout by Morgan Mason made it 12-0 before Kaylynn Lawrence singled to plate two more runs before Williams and Camryn Riggle plated the final two runs of the night.

Miller struck out eight while allowing a hit in the first inning to get the win.

The Tiger Cub bats had a field day against the Wolverines, scoring multiple runs in all four innings for the early win Thursday but couldn’t replicate the feat the following day against the Panthers.

Haley Iseman and Kenzie Epley both had two-run home runs against White River Valley as Greencastle led 21-0 before allowing three late runs to the visitors.

On the road the following night, the Tiger Cubs got runners on base in every inning but the third but couldn’t make anything stick against Riverton Parke pitcher Madison Coonce until the seventh.

Emma West drew a walk and after two pop outs, Gloria Brewer reached on a fielder’s choice, allowing Emma Hunter to plate a run with a single but a final pop out ended the game shortly thereafter.

A 10-run fourth inning was the ticket the Athenians needed to punch their 15th win of the season Friday night over the Cougars, taking home a 13-0 win in five innings.

The visitors struck first in the second inning as a quick 1-2 punch made it 2-0 after Kaden Patton doubled and Kale Wemer hit a two-run blast over the center field fence.

Following a quick third inning, Crawfordsville made its move in the fourth, beginning with one-out singles by Bryce Dowell, Kaiden Underwood and Patton to bring the first run in.

Wemer doubled to plate two runs and make it a 5-0 game before a groundout gave North Putnam hope of getting out of the inning.

Instead, the Athenians repeated the three singles and a double trick as Jude Coursey, Wyatt Motz and Cale Coursey singled and AJ Hall doubled, bringing in four more runs and chasing Cougar starter Kaden Helderman.

Dowell returned to belt a two-run home run off new pitcher Nolan Augusta before Underwood reached on an error and scored on a Patton double to make it 12-0.

Dowell would force in the final run of the night after being hit by a pitch before getting a strikeout-throw out in the bottom of the fifth to end the game.

Wemer earned the win on the mound after tossing three innings, allowing a walk while striking out five while Dowell threw two innings, allowing a hit and striking out three.

A 4-1 start turned into a 4-4 game for a brief moment before the Tiger Cubs countered with eight runs in the fifth and finished the game in the sixth in a win over the Knights Friday afternoon.

After allowing the first run Greencastle got three back in the bottom of the first after Treyten Clark tripled in a run and two more scored on an error.

Nathan Sutherlin added a run in the second on a single before Traders Point broke a brief lull in the scoring, using a walk, error, single. two wild pitches and a fielder’s choice to score three times in the fifth inning.

The hosts answered quickly as Jaylon Bushong took the lead back with a walk, stealing second before scoring on an error.

Owen Huff singled home a run before Sutherlin walked with the sacks full to force home a run.

A single and error allowed two runs to come in off the bat of Clark before Trevin Long plated two more with a single and scored on an error to make it 12-4.

Huff singled in a run in the sixth before finishing the game by scoring on a passed ball.

A 3-0 Eagle lead was wiped out quickly in the bottom of the second as the Eels scored eight runs, adding seven more in the fourth, for the shortened win Thursday evening.

Ashton Nichols hit a sac fly in the first inning that turned into a double play to end the frame but South Putnam still took a 1-0 lead into the second, adding two more runs on a Kenny McDaniel single.

Clay City responded by turning two errors, four walks and four hits into eight runs, later adding seven more runs in the fourth to make it 17-3.

The Eagles tried to extend the game after Trevor Fulford singled in a run, Isayah Hardwick drew a bases-loaded walk and Leyton Wells was hit by a pitch in the next at bat but the visitors would leave the bases full as the A No. 2 Eels finished off the game in five innings.

The Tiger Cubs kept things tight on a blustery day at Tiger Pointe CC to win their home invitational by five strokes over the Mounties.

Bryson Worman led the charge with a third-place round of 79, followed by Zane Huber on 84 while Jackson Rodgers and Sam White shot matching 94s and Cooper Grable carded a 97.

Southmont’s Nolan Allen took medalist honors on 77 while teammate Austin Foley finished as runner-up on 78.

“Strong play by Bryson and Zane and consistent play by Jackson and Sam made the difference in the tournament,” Greencastle head coach Steve Paquin said. “The course played difficult for the teams with hard pin placements and a constant southerly wind made scoring higher than usual.

“All of the Cubs shot in the forties for their total score to secure the win with no one shooting higher than 49. Chipping and putting are still concerns for the young Cubs, but there is still time to improve in those areas and it’s a good win going into the last few weeks of the season.”
