U.S. 36 restrictions set on or after May 17 for bridge work near Rockville

ROCKVILLE -- Restrictions on U.S. 36 in Parke County are slated to start on or after Wednesday, May 17 for bridge maintenance work near Rockville, the Indiana Department of Transportation has announced.

U.S. 36 will be down to one lane, with traffic being controlled by temporary signals. This is between East Old 36 Road and North 1050 E. The restrictions are expected to last through the end of May, weather permitting.

The contract was awarded to Pacific Painting Co. and involves a total of five bridges: Two bridges on U.S. 40 in Putnam County, two bridges on U.S. 36 in Parke County and one bridge on State Road 59 in Parke County.

The entire contract is expected to be completed in July 2023.

INDOT urges motorists to slow down, use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a work zone.
