County Jail

Five people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 1:36 p.m. Alesha M. Hatley 33, Reelsville, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant for burglary.

Tuesday

• At 2:04 a.m. Donald R. Sherman, 47, Quincy, was taken into custody for domestic battery, strangulation and criminal confinement.

Monday

• At 2:31 p.m. Leanne J. Lynn, 57, Linton, was housed at the jail on a writ of body attachment.

• At 1:37 p.m. Jessie J. Jones, 32, Bedford, was booked in for criminal conversion and driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

• At 1:16 p.m. Sherri V. Alexander, 35, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on a court order.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to three incidents since Tuesday afternoon:

• At 12:50 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 511 N. Indiana St. for an electrical hazard. Firefighters arrived at 12:53 and were advised by the homeowner that a tree was rubbing on a power line. Duke Energy was notified of the issue, and the homeowner stated they would wait on their arrival. GFD went back into service at 1:03 p.m.

• At 1:33 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Sigma Alpha Epsilon at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:34 and determined the alarm was due to steam from a shower. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 1:39 p.m.

• At 6:32 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Dirks House at DePauw for a good intent call. Firefighters arrived at 6:35 and were told that an oven caught on fire, but that the fire had been extinguished. Firefighters checked for extensions and advised that the oven be cleaned. GFD went back into service at 6:29 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded for 10 medical assists and had three disregards in and around this timeframe.
