“When they arrived, they found a male with several gunshot wounds,” said Ames.

The officers realized the victim had succumbed to his injuries. The Clay County Coroner was contacted.

“We are asking anybody that has any information or heard the gunshots to contact the police,” said Ames.

Ames said McGuff is aged 25 and from Reelsville.

If you see McGuff, Ames said, “Do not approach him and call 911.”

Ames is also encouraging residents to contact the ISP at 765-344-7453.

The male victim's identity has not been released, pending notification of his family.

The Clay County Prosecutor was also at the scene and has been informed of the situation. The Brazil Police Department, Clay County Sheriff’s Department and Conservation Officers were on the scene.

“This happened in the city, but I have asked the Indiana State Police to take the lead. They have more resources than the city. I asked, and they have accepted," said Brazil Police Chief Clint McQueen.

McQueen reiterated Ames’ plea for people with any information to contact law enforcement.
