FOP begins annual fundraising drive

Tuesday, May 23, 2023

The Putnam County Fraternal Order of Police is beginning its annual fundraising drive with calls to solicit donations.

The 2023 drive began on Monday, May 22. It will run through July 14.

Organizers would like Putnam County residents to know that no in-person solicitation will take place without prior telephone arrangements.

All solicitors will show ID upon request and will be in clearly-marked FOP shirts.

Local FOP president Ed Wilson also wished to note that James Jones, who had performed the drive for the local FOP for a number of years, has passed away so it will be a different person leading the effort this year.

Money collected will go to a number of FOP-supported causes, most notably the Shop-with-a-Cop program, which pairs students with police officers for back-to-school shopping.

Other supported programs include a continuing education program and officer assistance for law enforcement-related training and equipment.

Anyone not contacted who would like to support the Putnam County FOP may mail a contribution to FOP, P.O. Box 934, Greencastle, IN 46135 or drop off at the Greencastle Police Department, 600 N. Jackson St., Greencastle, during regular business hours.
