U.S. 36 bridge work to start near Raccoon SRA

BELLMORE — Lane restrictions will soon be in place on U.S. 36 in the area of Raccoon State Recreation Area and Bellmore.

The Indiana Department of Transportation recently announced that bridge maintenance work will begin in the area on or after Tuesday, June 6.

The road will be down to one lane with traffic being controlled by temporary traffic signals. The restriction will be between State Road 59 and East Old 36 Road in the area of the Raccoon SRA entrance and will remain in place through the end of June, weather permitting.

This contract was awarded to Pacific Painting Co. It involves a total of five bridges: Two bridges on U.S. 40 in Putnam County, two bridges on U.S. 36 in Parke County and one bridge on S.R. 59 in Parke County. The entire contract is expected to be completed in July.
