SR 236 closure near Russellville coming June 12
RUSSELLVILLE — An upcoming closure to State Road 236 near Russellville will commence next week and continue for at least three months.
The Indiana Department of Transportation announced this week that the road will close between State Road 59 and U.S. 231 beginning on our after Monday, June 12 and continuing through early September, weather permitting.
The official detour follows U.S. 231 to U.S. 36 to State Road 59.
This contract was awarded to Milestone Contractors South, LLC for $2.8 million. The entire contract is expected to be completed in June of 2024.
Crews will be constructing a functional Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) overlay. An HMA overlay is a combination of asphalt cement and aggregate placed over aging pavements as a pavement preservation treatment. The liquid asphalt binds the rocks together in a strong but flexible structure.
This work follows a similar resurfacing project performed on State Road 236 in recent years stretching from U.S. 231 east through Roachdale to the area of State Road 75 in North Salem.
